Business and industry

Essex 2020 creates a huge opportunity to showcase Essex's vital research, life sciences, aerospace, medical innovation, digital tech, manufacturing sectors and more. It aims to shine a light on the business and industry, SMEs, multinationals, inventors, creatives and entrepreneurs who are shaping the future.

By forging new cross-sector collaborations our goal is to drive inward investment and inspire a new generation of talent - whether through big picture themes such as climate, energy or robotics or through a diverse programme of events that spark curiosity, discovery and innovation amongst all those who live, work and study in Essex.

Now we want to hear from you!

If you have a STEAM-related event planned for 2020, have a great idea to celebrate STEAM achievements in your organisation, or are seeking funding to turn your STEAM idea into a reality – your first step is to complete the Expression of Interest form.

The programme is already taking shape thanks to involvement from Invest Essex; TechEast; the Tech Ambassadors Group; Chelmsford Science & Engineering Society; South East Creatives; The Digital Skills Partnership; Teledyne E2V; Anglia Ruskin University; Creative Colchester; Southend Tech; The Royal Academy of Engineers; UK Space Agency; University of Essex Innovation Centre among others.

“Opportunities like the British Science Festival coming to your city don’t come around very often. Essex 2020 provides an excellent opportunity for Chelmsford to shine as the capital of Essex and celebrate our rich past and future heritage in science and innovation, in both new and creative ways.”

Marc De’ath, Cultural Partnerships Manager at Chelmsford City Council
