Tackling Child Exploitation

A new multi-agency Tackling Child Exploitation Support Programme will be delivered collaboratively by The Children’s Society and voluntary and statutory partners across Essex providing one–to-one sessions with young people offering advocacy, therapeutic support, group work and participation.

The new programme has been informed by insight generated by the Essex Centre for Data Analytics on youth violence and vulnerabilities and has been made possible as a result of £2.1 million of National Lottery funding received by The Children’s Society.

The programme has also received a significant investment by the Department for Education and aims to support local areas to develop an effective response to child exploitation and threats from outside the family home, including child sexual exploitation and child criminal exploitation, including county lines drug trafficking.

The TCE Support Programme will be evidence-informed, and developed with the sector, to reflect and build on the wealth of existing knowledge and activity in this field. The emphasis on harnessing and sharing sector expertise reflects the consortium’s commitment to building capacity and enabling sustainable change. Additional training and development of resources will be delivered for practitioners across the voluntary and statutory sector leading to earlier identification and targeted dissemination of existing resources.
