Reducing harm in Essex

Together Essex County Council, the NHS, Police Crime Commissioner, and District and Borough Councils have a co-ordinated countywide approach to commissioning services to ensure that those affected by substance misuse have a single path to recovery and reintegration into the community.

The Essex Drug and Alcohol Partnership has made significant progress in streamlining and coordinating commissioning services for drug dependent people in the county. A strong, inclusive joint commissioning group has brought together planning, co-production and monitoring of services and through community engagement has increased the number of people who receive the services that they need and the quality and appropriateness of those services.

This integrated treatment and alcohol system has improved outcomes for individuals by reducing barriers to receive support, empowering them to seek support available within their communities to address addictions, ensure that all referrals are client centred and recovery focused.
