Dr Mike Brewer

Dr Mike Brewer is Chief Economist and the Deputy Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation, an independent think-tank focused on improving the living standards of those on low-to-middle incomes. He is also a visiting Professor at the London School of Economics. Between 2011 and 2020, he was an academic at the University of Essex; prior to that, he worked at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and HM Treasury.

At Resolution Foundation, Mike oversees the Foundation’s research agenda, which includes incomes and inequality; jobs, skills and pay; housing, wealth and debt; tax and welfare; public finances and the economy.  He has written widely on inequality and poverty in the UK, and on how Covid-19 has affected the labour market and household finances.
