Be data literate - the skills everyone needs to succeed

From checking the weather app to interpreting our fitness stats, we’re all doing more with data.

Data literacy is an essential skill in today’s increasingly digital, data driven world, and we want to empower everyone to work confidently with data, after all Data is Everyone’s Business.

Public sector leaders throughout Essex are invited to participate in a new Data Masterclass that will help them to:

  • Understand what value can be derived from data, what good evidence looks like and how to work with data professionals
  • Know how to read, work with, communicate, interpret, and use data to enhance expertise and experience for effective evidence-based decision making
  • Be aware of the risks, limitations, and ethical considerations of using data and what’s available to offer guidance and support
  • Recognise the growing role and importance of analytics and data science and what types of business problems it can help to solve.

The Data Masterclass is an interactive eLearning programme designed and delivered by the Essex Centre for Data Analytics and Government Digital Service.

Sponsored by the Essex Chief Executives Forum the Data Masterclass is free to all public sector organisations. Designed to be completed flexibly around a busy schedule the Masterclass can be completed over six weeks, in 60-90 minute weekly segments, accessed online from any device.

Recruitment is open for the first cohort, which will begin on 26 September 2022.

Email ecda@essex.gov.uk to register your interest or nominate colleagues. Recruitment closes on 21 September 2022.
